Areas of Practice
Environmental Law
We have deep experience with all aspects of local, state and federal environmental law, including wetlands, Chapter 91 waterways licensing, stormwater, solid waste and hazardous waste. We advocate for our clients before local permitting authorities like conservation commissions and boards of health, agencies including the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and state and federal court.
Land Use Law
We regularly work for clients on land use matters under the state Zoning Act and Subdivision Control Law, and municipal zoning bylaws and subdivision regulations. We represent clients in front of planning boards and zoning boards of appeals, and in court when litigation is required.
Litigation and Enforcement
We aim to help our clients avoid enforcement and litigation, but are ready and able to aggressively defend their rights when necessary. We have enjoyed success both prosecuting lawsuits to challenge illegal conditions or decisions, and defending against lawsuits appealing permits or seeking enforcement for alleged violations. In 2025, Luke H. Legere was selected to the list of Massachusetts Super Lawyers for Environmental Litigation.
